I'm 909 miles from the Kansas City Airport where I have to be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday to pick up Jerry. Right now eastbound I-80 is closed while they clear up yesterday's wreck. Hoping they get that cleared before I arrive. If not, the helpful woman at the Holiday Inn in Rawlins told me the road up to Casper is open. So I could drive around the storm and the wreck. We'll see.
In the meantime, here are some stats on the trip so far:
Mile driven: 954
Gas used: 72.6
Miles per gallon: 13.14 (a better than average MPG for my 1999 Dodge Ram)
Songs listened to: 260
I had started going through my iTunes collection alphabetically before the trip and got as far as the Ds. This trip started with Willie Nelson's "Don't be Ashamed of your Age," appropriately enough. We'll start today's drive with "Going Down Slow" by Howlin' Wolf.
I have 2,840 songs total. Amazing that you can carry along that many songs in something that fits in the palm of you hand. Just think of what it would take to do this in the eight-track days. I'd have to have the bed of the truck filled with eight-tracks.
