A day of rest for what lies ahead

A day of rest after driving 2,457 miles in four days through all kinds of weather. Mostly sat around my sister's home with Elvis the cat after sleeping in late.

The bike ride starts tomorrow: 80 miles the first day and then 100 the next. We are staying tomorrow night at the Simon Kenton Inn in Springfield, Ohio. For those of you who missed out on that chapter in your Ohio history class, check out Simon here: http://ohiohistorycentral.org/w/Simon_Kenton

This will be the sixth time my sister, Mary Jo, has ridden from her home in Cincinnati to the farm in Northwest Ohio. She has done it with her daughter when Anne was 10. She has done it with her grandson when he was 12. She has done it with an exchange student who was a senior in high school at the time. She has done it with 20 members of the BABES, her women's rider group here in Cincinnati. She has done it once each with two of her regular riding friends, Ruth and Evelyn.

The longest ride for me this year has been 53 miles. All this adds up to the possibility of this being the first time she has done this ride when she has to slow down for a pathetic, out-of-shape riding partner. I keep fortifying myself with a belief that all of Ohio is as flat as the land around "home," Liberty Center.

No rain in the forecast for tomorrow, but a westerly wind of 19 mph is predicted. Yikes.

Maybe I should rest another day (or week).
