Day 5 Aug. 30, 2014

View from my window at the Trout Lake Country Inn.
Bar noise kept me awake some after I turned out the lights at 10 p.m., but I woke up at 11:30 p.m., which proved to myself that I had been asleep. Quiet downstairs from midnight on (most of the noise I heard came from one woman’s laughter) and I slept through to 5:30 a.m.

Fiddled with the camera and cell phone. I have a new camera, and it is supposed to have wireless and be able to talk to my cell phone. They are not speaking this morning even though they had a brief conversation last night. Will keep trying.

Over to the Kelly B&B for breakfast. John and I have decided to shuffle a car to Wind River Road. That means 3.5 days of hiking, another car shuffle and then 2.5 more days of walking to finish on Saturday. So far, I have walked 40 miles this trip. About 80 to go.

Back at my room sorting food, clothing etc. into three piles: one to take in my pack on the trail, one to leave in the truck and one to put in John’s car to have during the next shuffle (clean clothes mostly since I will be wearing more toxic laundry by then).

The Country Inn porch.
Shower and nice quiet time sitting on the front porch here. John got here before 1, early because he said he was hungry. Ordered lunch here, but it took forever to arrive. Became a joke with the three people sharing our table – two retired teachers from Portland and the trucker husband of one of them. The married woman kept insisting on seeing the room I was staying in, which also became a joke at the table. We had planned on eating dinner here – and the husband suggested we might want to put in our order now – but decided against it.

Lunch but no dinner at the Country Inn.
It poured when we were shuffling a car to Wind River Road. Glad we were off the trail. Moving the cars took the rest of the afternoon. Finally got my camera to send photos to my cell phone and posted a photo on the blog.

Here since 1904.
Dinner at the Station Café again, then to the Kelly B&B to watch the first half of the UW-Hawaii football game. Back to the Country Inn, which is quieter tonight and has no live music. Kind of disappointed. Might have been a fun crowd to hang with.

But to bed.
