After a busy weekend, we've made it to Monday and learned that it will still be a couple of days til escape is even possible. The blood-thinning magic is taking its own sweet time, getting to "therapeutic levels" incrementally. And, given our close encounters with clots, we must wait til all is well.
Patience. . . .
Meanwhile, the running of the moose continues apace. He's now made it round the track of 3West Neuroscience critical-care units B and C. We'll hit the "A" team this afternoon and make it a full circle.
Meantime, we continue to gorge on chocolates from Deb (delish) and look for new adventures. A shower for John this morning was entertaining -- he and I crammed in a little room with an IV pole, towel on John's head, me stripped to undies and covered in plastic, waving the shower wand around crazily. All done, and John looks and smells a little more like a human than a moose.
John B is planning his recuperation filled with music -- thanks not only to the Times gang's generous iTunes treasury (he's planning to get the entire Beatles collection) but also to cousin Terry's contribution of favorite oldies, including Cab Calloway and the Du-Wah genre's greatest hits. (John was recalling the gift of music Dave Boardman hauled in 21 years ago. We enjoy that still, Dave.)
Many, many more thanks are in order, of course. First to the Mikes: Dr. Mike Kelly, our local nephrology king and brother of Tom. He took time from his clinical work here to visit and offer some great tips and references to other experts we'll be visiting in later days. Next to Mike Harer for bringing his salon tools to trim and pretty up John's Grizzly Adams beard. It felt sooo good to get rid of all that scraggle.
Maureen has arrived with a bag o' Dick's burgers, so I've going to sign off now and get back to my gluttony.
I'll check in later if I can.
All best, KT
P.S. Joe and Cyndi, Cole and Hudson, the flowers are beauteous!!! Pink roses and yellow carnations are sitting on the window sill, enjoying the "harbor view" with the rest of us. xoxoxoxo
Kathy and John -- All the reports of progress are a great relief , even if JB is still stuck in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteTell him I'll bring his bike around so he can do a few laps through the corridor.
We're all rooting for you.
Jim
Wow. Dick's burgers, chocolates, flowers, iTunes gift, shower for two -- except for the surgery part it sounds like you guys are having a great time.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear about the baby steps of progress, KT. Eventually those will get you guys down the long road. Hang in there, Saul!
