It's KT again, checking in with a brief, I promise, update. At 8 pm Wednesday night, John is drifting in and out of sleep, trying to take a little food. It hasn't been a great afternoon, but that was expected. The neuro carpenters said he'd feel worse for a few days before he started feeling better. Stomach upset, big, bad headache. But the really important stuff inside his head is going well. Things are knitting together in there, and the men and women in white coats (oh, there are a ton of them in this place) are very pleased with the exit of Raymond and the ensuing repairs to the "building."
Tonight we're hoping for rest -- maybe a little respite from the constant pong, pong-ding-ding-ding of monitors going off up and down the halls and the fwap-fwap-fwap of helicopters right outside the window (two airlifts in last night). Nurses come in every hour or so, and we're in good hands.
Thanks again for all the calls and notes and good wishes. You're the best!
Sister Kathleen Ann
I'm thinking about both of you today -- and saying my prayers. I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well and that the doctors are happy.

ReplyDeleteI figured these first handful of days would be tough, Triesch. But it sounds like you have a great team, and that's huge. Best wishes to Saul as he works through his recovery. He's a tough and stubborn guy, just the qualities he needs.
